Sri Bhadrakali Temple is prominent and one of the oldest temples of Hinduism for Goddess Bhadrakali. ‘Bhadrakali’ is an important deity of Hinduism and a form of Maa Durga. The temple is located at the hilltop between the two cities of Hanamkonda and Warangal, the Telangana State of India. It’s supposed to be the best and a major attraction for the devotees, who worshipped the Goddess Sri Bahdrakali.
As per the historical records, the Sri Bhadrakali Temple Warangal is believed to have been built in 625 CE. It is built by King Pulakeshin II of the Chalukya dynasty to commemorate his victory over the Vengi region of Andhra Desham, as per the writings on the temple wall. Kakatiya kings later have adopted the temple and considered Goddess Bhadrakali as their Kuladevi.

The most striking feature of the temple is the 2.7 x 2.7 m2 stone idol of Goddess Bhadrakali, with fierce eyes and eight arms, each holding various weapons. However, the Vahana (mount) of Goddess Bhadrakali – the lion is placed in front of the sanctum sanctorum. The temple also has a flag pillar and a Bali Peetha.
