Maa Dewri Mandir is one of the ancient temples in Diuri Village Tamar near Ranchi in Jharkhand, India. It is located about 60 km from Ranchi and is on the right side of the Ranchi Tata road toward the town of Tamar. It is believed to be a 700-year Murti of 16 armed deities of Maa dewri. The Deity holds a bow, shield, flower, and param in her arms and it is traditionally worshipped by the Pahan (Tribal Priest of the Mundas). It was earlier known as Dewri Diri which means the sacred stone of Diuri village. This Temple is dedicated to ‘Solah Bhuji’ Goddess Avatar of Goddess Durga. Dewri temple is located outside the main city of Ranchi.
This Hindu temple was constructed of interlocking stones without chalk or binding materials. One of the most unique of the temple is the devotees who visit the temple tie yellow and red sacred threads on bamboo for the fulfillment of their wishes and once their wishes are fulfilled they visit the temple again and untie the thread.
