Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple of Kanipakam, also known as the “Kanipakam Temple”, is one of the prominent shrines located in Kanipakam in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is situated 11 km from Chittoor and 68 km from Tirupati. The temple is dedicated to the prominent god of Hinduism, Lord Ganesha. The Prime deity of this Hindu Mandir is Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swam, who is a swayambhu, a self-manifested idol.
However, a very interesting fact associated with this temple is that the Sri Vinayaka Idol is increasing day by day. The temple was built in the early 11th century CE by the Chola Emperor Kulottunga I and was expanded further in 1336 by the Emperors of Vijayanagara. Kanipakam Temple is under the control of the Endowments Department of Andhra Pradesh, which will appoint a trust board of 15 members to administer the temple.
