Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga is a prominent Hindu temple of Lord Shiva Located in Verul Village of Aurangabad district Maharashtra India. It is also one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India. The word ‘Grishneshwar’ means ‘lord of compassion’. After the Mughal Maratha Conflict, Maloji Bhosale’s grandfather restored this temple in the 16th century and rebuilt it to its current form.

According to the temple rules anyone can enter the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga premises and its inner chambers but to enter the sanctum as per the local Hindu tradition demands men must go bare-chested. The temple is open from 5 am to 9.30 pm with extending hours during the holy month of Shravan from 3 am to 10 pm. This Jyotirlinga temple conducts numerous activities from various pujas and aartis throughout the day. During the special month of Shravan, many pilgrims attend the event.

  • Madhyan Aarti => The Madhyan Aarti is performed in the evening wherein the temple is bathed in the warm glow of the ceremonial lamps creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.
  • Sheja Aarti => The final Aarti of the day, the Sheja Aarti, is performed at night before the temple closes. This Aarti signifies the end of the day’s rituals and is a serene way to conclude one’s visit to the temple.
