The Mahabaleshwar Temple, Gokarna is one of the prominent Hindu shrines, located in Gokarna, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka state, India. It is a 4th-century CE temple dedicated to the Lord Shiva. This is the site of religious pilgrimage. The temple faces the Gokarna beach on the Arabian Sea. The temple enshrines the Pranalinga (The Reality of God that can be apprehended by the mind), also known as “Atma Linga or Shiva Linga”.
It is one of the most significant temples of Lord Shiva in Southern India and is one of the 275 Paadal Petra sites mentioned in Tevaram.
