Tirunageswaram Naganathar Temple, also known as the Thirunageswaram Rahu Temple and Rahu Stalamis is a Hindu Mandir situated six kilometers east of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District. It is dedicated to the deity Shiva, worshipped as the Naganatha Swamy. The other important diety is Giri Gujambigai (Parvathi). This temple is significant to the Hindu sect of Saivism as one of the temples associated with the nine planet elements, the Navagraha Stalas, and specifically Rahu.
The Thirunageswaram Rahu Temple is one of the ancient Shiva and Pawathi temples in South India. As per the archaeologist, the presiding deity is revered in the 7th-century Tamil Saivite canonical work, the Tevaram, which was written by Tamil saint poets known as the Nayanars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam.
